Our director, Lori Johnston, is a credentialed and experienced elementary school teacher who holds a master's degree in Education. Extensive educational and curriculum training give her the background needed to support tutors in creating the most effective program for each child.

We Specialize in:

Comprehensive Reading Program

Children in this program become fluent, independent readers and develop strong comprehension skills. During the first session, the student is assessed to determine his or her reading level in three areas: reading comprehension, phonics and fluency. Once assessed, a program is created to target the child's individual needs. Based on assessment results, the student will be tutored in one, two or all three areas:
  1. Phonics instruction and practice
  2. Fluency
  3. Reading comprehension
Ongoing assessments will guide the tutor to address your child's specific needs. With parent permission, tutors will communicate with your child's teacher to get feedback on how they can help him or her succeed in the classroom.

Writing Enrichment

Our writing enrichment program provides students with the foundation they need to become skilled writes. Experienced instructors give them the time, encouragement and practice they need to reach their highest potential as writers. The student's writing proficiency is assessed and a program is created to target his or her individual needs and goals.

Mathmatics

Our goal is to help students build a solid foundation in math, gain confidence in their abilities and succeed in the classroom. Experienced instructors will help students:
  1. Build capacity and enthusiasm for mathematics
  2. fill gaps in knowledge
  3. reinforce what they are learning in the classroom
With parent permission, tutors will communicate with your child's teacher to get feedback as to how they can help him or her succeed in the classroom.
