Our tutors are not only knowledgeable in their respective fields, they have excellent teaching abilities and great personalities.
Our Director
Lori Johnston brings a variety of experience and education to First Class Tutors. She holds a Master’s degree in Education, a Bachelors degree in Communicative Disorders (Speech Therapy), a Multiple Subject Clear Teaching Credential and Cross-cultural, Language & Academic Development Credential (CLAD).
She has several years teaching experience in Elementary and Intermediate School. She has also worked as a one-on-one tutor. Extensive educational and curriculum training give her the background needed to support tutors in creating the most effective program for each student to succeed.
The quality of our tutors is of paramount importance. Lori is responsible for recruiting and training the most exceptional teachers. When you call First Class, she will be the one to respond to you, discuss your or your child’s academic needs and who would be the best tutor to help you succeed.
Our Tutors
Our Tutors are certified and experienced instructors who are thoroughly screened and well trained. They have outstanding academic records and are able to help students improve grades and learn study skills that will last throughout their academic careers. They are: Bachelor degree graduates, Master’s, PhDs, and highly skilled undergraduate students.
A straight “A” student from a prestigious university does not necessarily make for a great instructor. Before selected, our tutors must complete a rigorous interview process that tests their knowledge. Then they must demonstrate their ability to teach through a mock tutoring session. Only 5% of the applicants are accepted.
Students are matched with the instructor who can best target his or her unique needs and abilities. After each session, tutors meet with parents to review their student’s progress.

Month-to-Month Program
This is a month-to-month program with no long-term contracts and no registration fee. Students are matched with their tutor according to: subject(s), grade level, learning style, personality, location and schedule.
